studio AME is an architectural design office based in Tokyo and Shanghai, working across architecture, spatial, and furniture design. It is led by Yufan Lu, who was born in China and trained across the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Japan, and whose work moves between cultures, languages, and disciplines rather than within any single one.
The studio holds a simple conviction: that a building is understood not through its form, but through the lives it holds. Each project begins in observation—of a setting, an element, the way people already occupy a place—and grows outward in scale, from the body to the interior, to the building, to the environment around it.
Alongside design, the studio offers project management, seeing each project through to built work.
